March is National Craft Month, and we can’t think of a better way to kick the winter blues than by picking up a new skill or even honing an existing one. After all, there’s something very therapeutic about using your hands to create something tangible. And while making a masterpiece can take quite a bit of effort, Bublup is a helping hand every step of the way.
Bublup makes it easy to research crafts and DIY projects, learn necessary skills, and show off or even sell your final products.
Research
If you’re ready to get crafty or whip up a DIY project, you’ll want to begin by doing some research.
Maybe you want to upcycle furniture, pick up knitting, or make beautiful jewelry. No matter what kind of projects you’re interested in, you’ll need to determine what materials are required, how much of a time investment to expect, etc.
Maybe you want to learn about the origin of the craft, artists that are particularly well-known for it, or what brands make the best tools or supplies.
Save and organize these links in folders both for your knowledge and for that trip to the craft store. Use checklists to stay on top of the supplies you need to purchase.
Every artist also needs some inspiration! We suggest making a mood board. You may prefer the ol’ pen and paper method for hashing out your creative ideas, but if a digital mood board is more your thing, a Bublup folder is an ideal home for your vision.
You can save images from anywhere into a folder. For example, you might want to upcycle a dresser. Consider hopping on Google or Pinterest and finding pictures of the kind of dresser you hope to emulate or styles of dresser knobs that you like.
Save all the pictures in a folder (consider creating subfolders for different furniture types!). When it’s time to dive into your project, you’ll know what direction you want to go in.
Learn
Whether you’re a first-timer creator or a seasoned expert, there are always new skills to learn! There are many places to find these resources (think: YouTube, Udemy, Skillshare), and keeping these resources organized can help you level up your game.
So if you have no idea how to thread a crochet needle, there’s surely a YouTube video for that! Save it in a folder and reference it as many times as you need until you’re threading that needle in seconds.
Are you part of a crafting group? Do you have friends, family, or colleagues interested in the same projects? Invite them to your folder!
A Bublup folder becomes a Group Folder when you invite people. Your folder then transforms into a collaboration and learning space. You can share learning resources, share photos of your progress, and plan gatherings (virtual or physical!) to work on your crafts together.
Showcase
When it comes to showcasing or even selling the fruits of your labor, a Bublup Roll will help give your handiwork the attention it deserves.
A Roll organizes and displays your work beautifully as a web page with a single URL, whether you’re creating a fantastic portfolio of your creations or a central place where potential buyers can browse products for sale.
The process for creating a Roll is the same either way, and you can make one faster than you can thread a crochet needle. Well, maybe. Save your files (photos, videos, or other media types) into a folder, locate the blue + button and select “roll”.
A screen will appear, prompting you to make some customizations. Pick a theme that speaks to you, and give your Roll an appropriate title. Titles can be changed later (or even ignored for now).
Rolls are incredibly customizable. To make the most of yours, consider watching the Rolls Master Class series on YouTube!
Once you’ve created a Roll that you love, you can share the URL with friends or prospective clients by text, email, or social media. The finished product could look something like this:
National Craft Month is the perfect time to learn a new skill or improve an existing one, and Bublup can help every step of the way. From researching crafts and DIY projects to saving how-to videos and even showcasing or selling your creations, there’s no better way to organize your links and media. We hope that this blog post inspires you to tackle your dream craft or DIY project!
